UNIVERSITY SERVES AS CO-SPONSORED FOR THE
1ST INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON ASIAN-EUROPEAN
EPICS ORGANIZED BY UNIVERSITY OF MALAYA
AND HELD IN KUALA LUMPUR AT UNIVERSITY OF
MALAYA, MALAYSIA.

(October
2002) Co-sponsored the 1st International
Conference on Asian-European Epics
held in Kuala Lumpur at
University of Malaya, Malaysia.
The 21st century ushers in an era
of immense changes, not only of
science and technology but also
of social fabric, revolutionary,
dramatic and fundamental changes,
attending to globalisation, and
innovation. In this new age, wealth
is the product of knowledge. It
is a great personal asset and should
be valued highly. It is important
to know our own national folk epics
and other countries’ national
folk epics as well. We should learn
to live together in harmony and
the best way we can put this spirit
of the times into practice shall
be to decide for ourselves to be
able to realize such a world by
sharing what we have with others.
Dr. Roger Haw said “The
present information technology oriented
age sees the disintegration of boundaries
between nations, and the systemization
and subdivision of our communities.
In this context, I am very proud
of this event being held at such
an important time, believing that
it will greatly help the participants
to understand more about epics in
both the regions of Asia and Europe,
and that our meeting becomes more
interesting and meaningful. I sincerely
hope that this event will continue
to grow and to go from strength
to strength in the future. “
The International Conference on
Asian-European Epics is being held
for the first time in Asia. Scholars
and enthusiasts alike have had the
opportunity to deliberate the various
facets of the development of the
genre and its far-reaching impact
upon human life. In this age of
globalisation, when the information
technology age sees the disintegration
of boundaries, it is vital that
we rediscover our own national epics
well and become acquainted with
those of others. It was held on
27th to 30th October at University
Malaya, co-sponsored by Asia-Europe
Foundation, Ansted University and
the National Arts Academy. Indeed
the event went off very well. The
success of this event depended very
much on the tireless efforts of
Prof. Dr. Ghulam-Sarwar Yousof.
Thanks to Prof.
Dr. Joy Beaudettes Cripps, Dr. Jim
Lim, Prof. Dr. Koki Shimoji, Major
Dr. Donald Yap, Mr. Beng Joon Koh
and Mr. Tiong Kiam Tan for their
generous sponsorship contributions.
Also thanks to
the EPICs speakers Prof. Dr. D.
Crowther (UK), Prof. Dr. C. B. Sharma
(India) and Dr. B. R. Barman (India)
for sharing and delivering their
useful paper at the conference.

ANSTED
UNIVERSITY CONVOCATION CEREMONY 1ST TIME
HELD IN LONDON AT LONDON METROPOLITAN UNIVERSITY
IN LONDON. UK.

(6th September 2003)
ORGANISED ANSTED UNIVERSITY CONVOCATION
CEREMONY 1st time held in London
at London Metropolitan University
in London. UK.
It was a Sunny
day on 2nd September in London.
All participants have a safe journey
arrived in London with full of exciting,
motivating and pleasant spirit.
Although it was a long flight traveling
hours for participants came from
around 30 countries yet we enjoyed
the entire trip. Also many participants
traveled by train to London from
other part of UK and European countries
did enjoy the greenery and beautiful
countryside view along the both
side of their journey.
Opportunity to
get together for attending the remarkable
celebration and conference events
was like a big family gathering.
Indeed it was a splendid event.
At least 100 papers have been presented
by many speakers, which the organizing
committee has planned to issue a
certificate to each paper presenter.
In fact the social responsibility
topic is a kind of enlightenment
project to all participants, which
is a meaningful and successful one.
The response was very encouraging
and the management of Ansted University
has decided to organize one in Malaysia.
On 5th afternoon
at 2:00pm, Prof. David Crowther,
Dr. Miriam Green and a few technical
specialists in charge of conference
hall of London Metropolitan University
have offered their sincere help
to assist Ansted University to set
up the event hall at Henry Thomas
Room for the usage of Ansted University
graduation ceremony on 6th September.
A team of people from Ansted University
has assisted to do the set up too.
(, Prof. Dr Song, Dr. Shahid Siddiqi,
Dr Guha, Mr. Francis Lim, Mr. E
K Haw, Ms. Way Bee Eng, (Dr.) Janet
Haw and Prof. Dr. Roger Haw). This
kind of self-initiative attitude
is very much appreciated. From here
you can see the teamwork spirit
of Ansted University is always ready
to offer their volunteer service.
This kind of spirit should be cultivated
at all time.
On 6th September,
early in the morning before the
event hall open. Many of the Ansted
family have already arrived and
were waiting at the Tower building
entrance. It was a busy day for
our event co-ordinator Mr. E K Haw
and two registration officers from
Ansted’s Bee Eng and Janet
for helping to do the registration.
“Many people
would say that London is an international
city and that this University –
London Metropolitan University (LMU)
– is an international University.
It is one of the largest universities
in the UK and we have students from
about 130 countries studying here.
It seems very appropriate therefore
that another international university
– Ansted University –
should hold its convocation and
awards ceremony here. And so I welcome
everyone to this university, which
is proud to host this ceremony,
and I am proud to have been asked
to give this welcoming speech.”
Prof. Dr. David Crowther, Ex-Professor
of CSR of LMU.
Congratulations
to all Honorary Doctorate Degree
recipients and graduates - may you
never look back in your life and
say that all the learning effort
and success was not time and money
well spend. I know this is an exciting
day for you all - please do not
forget to enjoy the day. By Late
Prof. Dr. Johannes Christiaan Welman
(South Africa)
“As Honorary
Advisory Council Member, in all
my dealings with Sir Prof. Roger
Haw, I have found him to be a man
of vision and understanding. As
the Bible says – “a
nation without a vision will perish.”
Apart from that, Sir Roger Haw backs
his vision with action. He is a
tireless worker and a man of great
wisdom and compassion. I am sure
that with him at the helm, assisted
by equally able administrators,
the University will grow from strength
to strength.
Now to the graduates
who are about to receive awards,
I would like to congratulate you
on your achievements. To obtain
this award is no mean effort. It
involves hard work – both
physically and financially. As you
know, there is no law of the universe,
which says that the pursuit of learning
and culture should inevitably be
a comfortable and riskless engagement.
I would therefore like to thank
your wives, husbands and children
for sacrificing so much to enable
you to achieve your educational
objectives.” Prof. Dr. Herbert
Blankson, UK

AN
OFFICIAL VISIT OF VISITING PROF. DR. ANANYA
SANKAR GUHA (INDIA) TO CONDUCT A WORKSHOP
"COMMUNICATION SKILLS AND CREATIVITY”
IN EAST MALAYSIA.

(March 2004) Organised a workshop
on “Communication skills and
Creativity” in East Malaysia.
Presented by Visiting Professor Dr.
Ananya Sankar Guha (India)
“As for myself I work as the
Regional director of the Indira Gandhi
National Open University India, and
am also very glad to be a part of
the Advisory Council of Ansted University
and its External professor. My basic
discipline is English Literature though
as an educator I try to do some creative
thinking on the profession. Education
is also very relevant to our corporate
life especially when we contemplate
its moral dimension. I am sure that
this workshop was a befitting finale
to the three-day workshop on “communication
skills and creativity in English”
a framework for success. The world
truly is one place when we commit
ourselves to the cause of education
and all the moral truths that it signifies.
Education has an ethical basis and
it motivates us not only to learn
but also to live together in a spirit
o f amity and harmony. Cultural pluralism
must go hand in hand with desire to
mingle with diverse races which give
to the universe the hues and colours
of a rainbow. I came in close contact
with Ansted University since January
2001 in the person of its moving spirit
Prof. Dr Roger Haw. Together we planned
and English Writing programme for
the developing nations, this is still
in its seminal stage but we hope to
give it a further vision and clarity
in the very near future. I must put
on record my special thanks to Prof.
Dr Roger Haw for giving me this wonderful
opportunity to speak in Sibu, Sarawak
of Malaysia. My indebtedness and gratitude
also goes to Ms. Mary Tiong for successfully
organizing the workshop for the keen
learners in Sibu and the society at
large.”

The
2nd CSR International Conference cum ASRIA
awards Launching ceremony held in Penang
on 29th May 2004

Ansted University
has been organising various and
many unique interactive seminars
in the past years both in Malaysia
and abroad. The main purpose is
to design to help delegates and
keen learners to acquire knowledge
in Science & Technology, Engineering
& Environmental Sciences, Medicine
and Healthcare, Social Sciences,
Historic & Linguistics, Liberal
Arts & Cultural Psychology &
Philosophy. In that case it will
help participants stand above the
others and become more effective
and persuasive leader in their field.
Our experts provide participants
with the tools necessary to truly
understand the current environment
and analyse how they can position
themselves and their organisation
to effectively meet new challenges.
It gives us great
pleasure to invite Yang Berhormat
(Honorable) Dato’ Koay Kar
Huah, the Penang State Executive
Councillor, Professor Dr. Roger
Haw, Chairman of the Conference
Project Organising Committee, members
of the press corps, fellow Ansted
committee members, Ansted family
members, university mates, honourable
colleagues, friends, ladies and
gentlemen for the 2nd CSR International
Conference launching ceremony held
in Penang.
Ansted is indeed
proud to organise the 2nd International
Conference on Corporate Social Responsibility,
which will was held at this very
prestigious and world-class hotel
from the 21st – 23rd of November
2004. As part of our social mission
to promote world peace, the betterment
of society, the preservation of
the environment that we must all
live in and to ensure a greater
future for mankind and this world,
we must begin to be aware of the
great and heavy responsibility that
each of us is entrusted with. Be
it as an individual persons, or
even more so, as incorporated bodies
and institutions, we must not only
be aware but to go further, once
awareness is achieved, we must then
act on it.
We are inviting
300 delegates to attend this International
Conference and some of them have
agreed to present their papers and
share their expertise in various
fields. Through shared values and
learning, participants will be able
to transform ideas strategically
to build the trust and goodwill
of the communities in which they
operate. If harnessed to its fullest
extent, it is a vehicle for pro-actively
seeking out means of being an agent
for positive social change and demonstrating
values through real actions, which
may eventually be used as a unique
selling point.
In today's world, where ideas are
increasingly displacing old values
in the production of economic value,
competition for reputation becomes
a significant driving force, propelling
our economy forward. Many companies
incorporate CSR as a marketing tool
to build the trust and goodwill
of the communities in which they
operate by implies a kind of benevolence
or 'giving back' to the society.
(Note: If you are interested in

generate new friendships and collaborations.
It will truly be a rewarding experience

ASRIA
AWARDS NIGHT-GALA DINNER 2004

On 23rd November
2004 in Penang, Malaysia, all the
2004 awardees of the prestigious
Ansted Social Responsibility International
Award (ASRIA) received their awards
from Prof. Dr. Dana M Barry (the
Honorable President of Ansted University’s
Scientific Board) at the “Grand
Gala Dinner and ASRIA Awards night”
ceremony. The Founder cum Chairman
of ASRIA Prof. Dr. Roger Haw had
presented his personal greetings
to each ASRIA 2004 awardee and recipient
of Certificate of recognition on
CSR reporting. The event was witnessed
by more than 100 delegates and invited
guests from various part of the
world. The event was successfully
organized and hosted by Ansted Service
Center. Teams of dedicated and committed
volunteers from Malaysia helped
organize the three days event, with
support from the scientific committee.
The ceremony kicked
off with a Malaysian cultural costumes
welcoming parade to welcome VIPs
as they entered into the Equatorial
Hotel Grand Ballroom. All participants
stood up and listened to Ansted
University’s song to show
their respect.
On 23rd November
2004, a series of ASRIA various
categories of universal prestige
awards first time to be created
by Ansted University and its Foundation
together with sponsors in recognition
of individuals and corporation for
excellence in carrying out Social
Responsibility programme and its
activities; to present the ASRIA
award to qualify international awardees
both individuals and corporations
as well as governmental departments
to recognize their profound contributions
to society at large. It also helps
to reinforce the message that social
responsibility is an obligation
for all of us living on this planet.
Just as individual persons have
a responsibility to society and
the environment, so too all corporations,
organizations and even governments
around the world have such a duty
of care and responsibility towards
maintaining and upgrading society
and the environment. For such corporations,
organizations and governments, this
is even more so, as the effect such
incorporated entities have on society
and the environment is far larger
if compared with an individual’s.
The ASRIA Award
ceremony was held on the third day
after the closing of the 2nd International
Conference on Corporate Social Responsibility.
Conference delegates took this opportunity
to enlarge their network contacts
through this meaningful gathering
in Penang, Malaysia. Indeed the
event was a great opportunity for
networking, idea exchange, and business
discussions.
The ASRIA awards
ceremony dramatizes each winner’s
social contribution, spirit and
career in narrative form and provides
a stage for the honorees to challenge
and inspire young and old people
to be responsible in their given
tasks. It also encourages others
to be unselfish, honest with a thoughtful
mind and ready to give a hand to
people in need at anytime and anywhere.
Therefore the certificate of recognition
and participation will serve the
actual meaning because all the delegates
have the chance to learn from each
other together by sharing their
experiences in an open-heart attitude
at this important meeting.
Indeed the event
was well organized and in a harmonious
environment, with a friendly and
warm atmosphere to make everyone
feel at home. While everyone enjoyed
the oriental delicious food, they
were entertained by a series of
Malaysian cultural shows performed
by professional dancers regaled
the audience. Delegates were also
invited to join them for cultural
songs and dancing. Everyone enjoyed
these wonderful evening activities.
That evening was
a happy moment. The speakers and
delegates were from various reputable
universities, Non-Governmental Organisations
and Multinational Corporations,
the university’s globally
distributed academic faculties,
professors, doctorate holders and
associate professors from many other
prestigious universities, international
corporate figures and professionals.
They came from 22 countries and
gathered together to recognize and
honor those organizations and individuals
who have demonstrated outstanding
effort and made great contributions
to the area of Social Responsibility
(winners of the ASRIA Awards 2004).

BOOK PRESENTATION AT THE 19TH INTERNATIONAL
CONFERENCE ON LEARNING ORGANISATION IN THE
LEARNING WORLD HELD AT KING MONGKUT’S
UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY THONBURI (KMUTT),
BANGKOK, THAILAND.

IN THE
MONTH OF APRIL 2005
One of our AU colleagues,
Prof. B. K. Passi, his wife Dr.
(Ms.) Subhashini Passi and a dedicated
Conference Organising Team successfully
organized the project. This International
Conference was jointly organized
by King Mongkut’s University
of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) Bangkok,
All India Association for Educational
Research (AIAER) India and others
at King Mongkut’s University
of Technology Thonburi Bangkok from
April 18th to 22nd 2005.
The theme of the conference was
relevant to people who are engaged
in governance and management and
corporate life related to education,
business, services, recreation,
and other fields. About 250 + delegates,
speakers, and workshop organizers
from Australia, Bangladesh, Canada,
Cape Town, China, France, Hong Kong,
India, Ireland, Japan, Latvia, Malaysia,
Mauritius, Philippines, Singapore,
South Africa, Switzerland, Taiwan,
Thailand, USA etc. participated.
The rationale of the theme of the
conference emerged from our puzzle
about the current paradox. We know
that developments in technology
are advancing at unprecedented rates.
Therefore, we expected that we would
have a world that will be free from
problems. But unfortunately, new
problems like unrest, mistrust,
exploitation, terrorism, and pollution
are multiplying. Root-causes of
new problems lie in our hurry to
search and follow symptomatic solutions,
over-use of competition within and
between teams, continued habits
of reactivity, employing fragmented-thinking,
encouraging consumerism, and increased
greed and hoardings.
Dr. Roger Haw was invited by Prof.
Dr. B. K. Passi to serve as International
Advisory Committee of ICLORD 2005
cum Plenary Speaker to deliver a
paper on Cultivating a Universal
Platform to Promote Learning Organization
through Social Responsibility Practice.
He created awareness and usefulness
of developing a learning organization
platform that encourages learners
to use some of the proven practical
solution examples to handle various
issues happening in our life. The
paper covered some of the following
questions: How do we learn to deal
with this situation? How can we
create the feelings of trust and
habits of proactive cooperation?
How can we support creativity for
balanced development? How can we
see the big picture through holistic
thinking? How can we avoid the habit
of over-hoarding?

was full of meaning as all the awards

to Ansted and society at large.
This educational eventful programme

more people aware about CSR practices.
Many people have received CSR books
& journal from him personally.

the School as an honoured and valued

in many things besides giving support
through various generous contributions

activities. We are also the brand
and product of GSS a multiracial

of my career and life success through
the caring and proper guiding teaching
staff and its environment. Once

AN
OFFICIAL INVITATION BY THE WORLD CLASS TRAINING
CENTRE SDN. BHD. TO INVITE PROF. DR. ROGER
HAW SERVES AS KEYNOTE SPEAKER FOR A CONFERENCE
ON “STRATEGIC MEASUREMENT & MANAGEMENT
OF CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY BALANCED
SCORECARD” AT BOULEVARD HOTEL, MID
VALLEY CITY, KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA. PROF.
ROGER HAW HAD PRESENTED CERTIFICATE OF RECOGNITION
FOR ALL THE COMPANIES TOOK PART IN THE WORKSHOP.

Prof. Dr. Roger
Haw was invited by World Class Training
Centre S/B to serve as Keynote Speaker
for the International Workshop “Strategic
Measurement & Management of
CSR with Balanced Scorecard”
on 5th December 2005 at Boulevard
Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
“I would
like to take this opportunity to
thank the organizer and congratulate
the management of WTC International,
Malaysia for organizing this workshop,
which for the first time is held
in Asia and open to the delegates
who come from several countries
and companies, far and near from
varied backgrounds and cultures.
Indeed it is a profound event for
all of us to meet here and discuss
various topics related to the CSR
issues. Indeed you and your company
have made absolutely the right decision
to attend this workshop. This alone
shows that your company recognize
the value of CSR practice. Let us
give a big applause to all of us
for making this remarkable workshop
a big success. Also for your perusal,
I brought along a copy of the CSR
reporting publication from NEC Corporation
of Japan, the first company to obtain
ASRIA’s CSR certificate of
recognition. Also I brought along
AMD and Ire-Tex Berhad annual reports
to you for perusal. Both companies
have received ASRIA Awards in 2004.
We clearly live in a competitive
age. Not just between individuals,
but sections of society. One striking
expression of this is the way there
always seems to be one group under
attack. A group may put its own
interests first and take advantage
of others.
In this workshop it is necessary
to have a draft Communication which
exploits this input and sets up
a way to move forward. From principle
to practice, concerning the added
value of Community involvement,
we will continue to focus on three
major questions:
First, how can
the Community best promote the business
case for CSR? How can we make companies
aware that responsible business
is not an additional burden or constraint
but a potential 'win-win' opportunity?
That if it is designed and managed
in the right way.
Secondly, how can
we improve the quality and effectiveness
of CSR instruments and tools? How
can we evaluate a companies' performance?
In some cases a more harmonized
approach could be required - take
the whole area of labelling for
example - not necessarily through
harmonized rules and laws, but perhaps
through self-regulation by the industry.
And finally, how can we promote
a constructive and pragmatic dialogue
between the business community and
its stakeholders? What we particularly
need are strong and detailed examples
of good practice and the evidence
about how CSR pays off – for
shareholders, for employees. I would
particularly like to hear how you
think you can help deliver that.
Thirdly, information
technologies and the growth of the
Internet are bringing huge amounts
of information within reach of the
citizen. Workers and consumers are
much better informed about their
rights. People are increasingly
aware of how their health and environment
are adversely affected when companies
pursue pure short-term profit objectives.
Not only are Asian consumers becoming
more demanding, but information
technologies now give them access
to a far wider range of suppliers
and they can select those that meet
their requirements.
Fourth, globalisation
multiplies worldwide the harmful
effects of unacceptable business
practices. In response to this threat,
NGOs too are growing in number and
going global - mobilizing citizens
and governments all over the planet.
Fifth, privatisation
has brought companies face to face
with their social obligations. As
governments disengage from many
areas of civil life, businesses
must help fill the gap.
Sixth, as firms
are increasingly exposed to global
competition, they need a more business-friendly
environment and call for lighter
regulation. The counterpart to such
flexibility is greater responsibility
on their part. We thus see enterprises
adopting codes of behaviour that
are transparent and fair not only
to their shareholders but also to
the general public – and even
to other operators only indirectly
involved in their activities. Nor
must we forget the important experiments
with new forms of labour relations
such as worker co-operatives and
worker participation schemes.
Finally investors,
and in particular pension funds
are more and more sensitive to the
social and environmental achievements
of the firms they invest in. We
are therefore beginning to see a
growth in the numbers of “responsible”
and “socially responsible”
companies. The more durable and
genuine this process is, means that
fewer rules and regulations will
have to be imposed by the relevant
authority– and this is a trend
we should all welcome…”

ANSTED
UNIVERSITY CONVOCATION CEREMONY 2006 HELD
IN PARIS.

Brief introduction:
Paris – The
City of lights. This is where romance,
love and passion began. For romantics,
Paris is indeed for lovers. Museums,
galleries, chic boutiques and fashionable
people-Paris is lovely for sightseeing
and people watching. One way to
discover Paris is to stroll around
the local markets. After that, take
in the sights from the Eiffel Tower.
Put on your beret and scarf, and
become Parisian for a week! Paris
has made great contributions in
the fields of fashion, decorative
arts, industrial design and popular
culture. These are some of the places
where you can find beautiful things
to bring home. The Eiffel Tower
is the quintessential symbol of
Paris. Ascend to the second floor
for a photo stop and enjoy a meal
with magnificent views on the first
floor, but be prepared to queue
up. This is one attraction, which
no one wants to miss.
Prior to the official
graduation ceremony event started
on 1st December, on 30th November
after having lunch at one of the
Chinese Restaurants in Paris we
took a long distance walk leaded
by Prof. Dr. Roger Haw, Ansted University
Founding member to go to the Eiffel
Tower. We took the golden opportunity
to take outdoor beautiful photographs
with Ansted University beautiful
gown put on each Anstedee at the
nearby garden of Eiffel Tower. This
became the background of each photograph
taken by delegates. On that day
the temperature was 11 degree Centigrade
and windy weather, which made us
feel extremely cold. That was an
interesting experience. According
to people residing in Paris, Ansted
University is the first foreign
university to have selected the
Eiffel Tower’s site as the
landmark and background of university
graduation ceremony photograph.
This is indeed an excellent and
innovative idea coming from Prof.
Dr. Roger Haw with the approval
of the Ansted University Board of
Governors and relevant departments;
an innovative and inspired idea,
which will give a sweet and lasting
memory for those delegates participating
in the wonderful photograph sessions.
Ansted University
has been organizing and involving
in many international events starting
from Malaysia and spreading over
to various destinations such as
Spain, Italy, India, London, Korea
and in 2006 we came to Paris. All
these activities, photographs plus
interesting write-up/reports will
be printed in the Ansted University
commemorative magazine. We would
like to thank all the contributors
for supporting this magazine. More
to read in the upcoming magazine
publication...
Wearing academic
gown outdoor at the nice view of
Eiffel Tower in the open air was
the very first time in the history
of Ansted University was an exciting
event. We are creating a corporate
identity that will bond together
the graduates and officers of the
university into a single unified
family - one with many branches,
befitting the diverse disciplines
and fields of study pursued within
the modern university, but all united
within a design concept that is
recognizably unique. At whatever
occasion the academic dress of Ansted
University is worn, be it at a graduation
ceremony, or within an educational
setting, or on occasions of local
or state ceremony, its members will
be able to say with pride “I
am a member of Ansted University’s
family, and these robes are the
outward symbol of my membership”.
In the evening of the 3rd day Ansted
University held its 2006 graduation
ceremony at Restaurant L’
Alchimie, Paris for many alumni
and graduates who came from many
parts of the world including Scotland,
London, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Greece,
Nigeria, Ghana, Poland, Canada,
Slovenia, Malaysia and Germany.
Prof. Roger Haw delivered the opening
address; Dr. George Leung, Master
of Ceremony and was assisted by
Dr. V.S. Ratnam from Malaysia. Prof.
Dr. Roger Haw had presented certificate
of appreciations to recognize Dr.
George Leung for his three consecutive
years serving as Master of Ceremony
at Ansted University events and
also presented certificate of appreciations
to Dr. Ratnam for serving two years
as co-master of ceremony. All registered
delegates have received their special
designed certificate of attendance
from Prof. Dr. Roger Haw and each
of them also had received a limited
edition souvenir programme for this
particular two events held in Paris.
Dr. David B. Lingiah
(UK), Dr. Antonios Katikas (Greece),
Dr. John G. Slade (Germany) received
their degrees scroll from Prof.
Dr. Roger Haw, Founding member of
Ansted University. This was the
first time in the history of Ansted
University Prof. Dr. Roger Haw has
presented degree scroll to Ansted
University graduates.

NETWORKING AND FELLOWSHIP GATHERINGS AMONG
ANSTED COMMUNITY & ASSOCIATES
"Networking"
is one of those words now being bandied
about, yet the concept is old. The country's
top business executives and professionals
have always relied on the "old-boy/girl
network" to accomplish their goals.
More recently, women trying to enter the
world of business or politics realized they
needed their own networks to succeed, and,
in trying to figure out the rules of the
game, have generated a plethora of books
and articles on the subject.
"Networking”
means connections and connections means
more than just good business practice; they
are the very lifeblood of commerce. Networking
increases your options and broadens your
horizons and, when it is done at the right
level, it is a win-win situation for everyone,
a good business deal after all needs to
be mutually beneficial to all parties. World-class
networking though can only work if the network
itself is world class.
A contact network is a
collection of acquaintances and people to
whom you have access and who will facilitate
your entry to organizations and people for
whom you wish to work. The greater the number
of people in your network, the greater your
chance of success. Don't worry if your circle
of friends and associates seem narrow. You
probably have a large network that you have
not activated. Furthermore, networks are
not static; if properly cultivated, they
grow geometrically. These activities will
lead to an extensive contact network. You
will have to keep in touch with people and
keep relationships active because contacts
take some time to mature. A final note about
networking. Do not neglect your peers. Develop
a group of people who are working in closely
related areas, preferably not in direct
competition with you. Consulting is unique,
and you will feel more comfortable having
a group of people around you who have chosen
this lifestyle. The shared characteristics
that brought you to consulting will often
be conducive to good friendships. These
people will be helpful in several ways.
You can share resources, contacts, concerns,
and information. If you have difficulty
with a client, or experience a crisis, your
peers can support you. If a group already
exists, they may welcome you as a member.
If not, form a new group. During networking,
you will meet peers. If they are interested
in creating or joining a group, suggest
meeting for lunch or cocktails on a regular
basis. Keep in touch always. Ansted has
created this platform and encourage people
to take part in Ansted’s family gathering
activities in various part of the world.
